Proverbs 3:5-6; Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 40:8
My philosophy on decisions:
1. I try to avoid making decisions.
Illustration: treating malaria in Borneo in the 1950’s
2. If I must make a decision, I slow down.
3. If I must make a quick decision, I always remember to pray.
Life and life’s decisions are a mixture of the following:
1. My decisions
2. The sovereign will of God
The Year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25)
Basic principle: the sovereignty and ownership of God
PLAN
P – God has a plan.
Illustration: disciples on the ship in Matthew 14. In this story, Jesus does three things for Peter and the others:
1. He prayed.
2. He came!
3. He saved!
L – God’s plan is a loving plan.
A – God’s plan recognizes God’s authority.
N – Neglect is possible.
