* David is the author of this Psalm.

* David wrote under inspiration of God.

* David was writing about Jesus Christ.

* Psalm 110 is a direct Messianic Psalm.

* This Psalm is quoted in the New Testament more often than any other Psalm!

Christ is summarized with four names:
1) He is Lord. (v. 1)
2) He is King. (vv. 2-3)
3) He is Priest. (v. 4)
4) He is Judge. (vv. 5-7)

The first LORD is Jehovah.

There are eleven clues as to the second Lord:

1) The rod of thy strength (v. 2)

2) Rule in the midst of thine enemies (v. 2)

3) Out of Zion (v. 2)

4) Thou hast the dew of thy youth (v. 3)

5) A priest for ever (v. 4)

6) Shall judge among the heathen (v. 6)

7) The day of his wrath (v. 5)

8) He shall fill the places with the dead bodies (v. 6)

9) He shall wound the heads over many countries (v. 6)

a) King of righteousness
b) King of peace
c) Priest of the most high God

10) He shall drink of the brook in the way (v. 7)

11) He shall lift up the head (v. 7)

Illustration – World War II ended in two phases:
VE Day (May 8, 1945)
VJ Day (May 15, 1945)

Christ won the main victory 2,000 years ago; He will win the final battle at His second coming!
