Psalm 78 is a Psalm of Asaph.

Psalm 78 is in the middle of the “third book” of the Psalms.

Psalm 78 is also considered a history Psalm.

Psalm 78 is the second longest Psalm.

“Generation” is “the span of time between the birth (gen – beginning) of parents to the birth (gen) of children” (Biblical generation is 40).

A parable is a comparable story or illustration.

Parable of Asaph – story mostly of the 40 year generation of the children of Israel.

Psalm 78 uses as a teaching example the history of Israel from the books of Exodus – Judges.

Four things to teach our children about God:

1. Teach your children about God’s greatness. (vv. 1-4)
You have to notice God before you can point Him out to your children.

2. Teach your children about God’s Word. (vv. 5-6)

3. Teach your children to trust God. (v. 7a)

4. Teach your children to obey God. (v. 7b)
