A New Song in My Heart – Psalm 56

Psalm 56
Wednesday, July 16, 2014
Pastor Dave Clear

* To the chief musician = Asaph

* Upon Jonath-Elem-Rechokim = “the silent dove in distant places”

* A michtam of David = “to cut or engrave”

* “When the Philistines took him in Gath” I Samuel 21

* The twin to Psalm 56 is Psalm 34.

Three points in Psalm 56:
1) David’s appeal (vv. 1-2, 7-8)
* “This I know: for God is for me.”

2) The enemies’ antagonism (vv. 5-6)

3) God’s assurance (vv. 9-13)

* God rewards faith.

* Praise is best when it is a down payment of acknowledgement–acknowledging what God is going to do in the future!
