Youth Christmas Banquet 2012

This year’s Christmas banquet theme was “Christmas:  A Picture of Christ.” We had nearly sixty in attendance on Saturday, December 8, 2012. The banquet was held in the Johnson Chapel. And in keeping with the theme, there were nearly six hundred developed 4×6 pictures hanging on the wall for the young people to see. Those pictures were a reminder to our young people how Christmas is a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The food was catered by Lunds and Byerly’s, and the young people enjoyed a garden salad, sliced turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered corn, a bread roll, and cookies. We had hors ‘d’oeuvres before the meal. The Johnson Chapel doors opened at 5:30 p.m. and the young people ate shortly after 6 p.m.

Pastor and Mrs. Anaya were our honored guests as Pastor Anaya spoke to the young people about making great memories. He and his wife are a tremendous blessing to our young people. Mr. Graves appreciated the help of Mrs. Anaya who helped decorate, Mrs. Rupe and Mrs. Graves who helped with the food, Mr. Otterdahl who helped with the buses and transportation, and Mr. Von Wald who also helped with various things throughout the evening. We regret that Mrs. Von Wald could not attend due to her recovery from surgery.

After the program part in the Johnson Chapel, we loaded two buses and headed to the Burnsville Center where the young people enjoyed some miniature golf. We took a group picture in the food court and were back to the church at approximately 10 p.m.

We look forward to the Youth Christmas Banquet for 2013. The tentative date will be Saturday, December 14, 2013. If you are a teenager at First Baptist Church or school and will be in the ninth through twelve grade at that time, you are invited!
