What a wonderful time we had on Saturday, December 10, 2011, the date of our annual Youth Christmas Banquet. As opposed to last year with a snowstorm delaying our banquet until February (and thus forcing us to change the name to a Winter Banquet), we had some great weather for this 2011 banquet. There was barely any snow, and it was a day that reached almost into the high 30s.

We had nearly 40 teenagers attend the banquet which was held in the Johnson Chapel. The doors opened at 5:45 p.m. with some appetizers for the young people of sausage, cheese, crackers, chex mix, and punch. We ate our food at 6:15 p.m. and had lemon pepper chicken, golden cheddar potatoes and green been casserole. We also had rolls and cookies for the young people. Mrs. Von Wald’s daughter, Sonya, also made eclairs for us. We appreciate that very much.

Brother Erik preached for us and challenged us about the perfect gift and the idea of how it truly is better to give than to receive. We appreciate Brother Erik challenging the young people. After he preached we loaded the bus and headed to Burnsville Center for some miniature golf. The young people had a great time, and we sure enjoyed having each and every one of them attend. The cost for the banquet this year was $15.00.

Thank you to Mrs. Pierson who decorated the Johnson Chapel for us. Thank you also, Brother Erik, for speaking. A thank you also to Sonya Von Wald, Mrs. Von Wald, Mrs. Graves, and Miss Doctor for your help with the food preparation and serving.

Next year’s Youth Christmas Banquet is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, December 8, 2012.
