Spiritual Leadership Conference Trip 2010

From July 12-14, 2010 I was privileged to be able to attend the 24th annual Spiritual Leadership Conference hosted by Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, California. Brother Austen Taylor and myself had a most wonderful time. The theme of the conference was entitled, “By His Spirit.” The theme verse was taken from Zechariah 4:6 which states, “…not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit…”

We left the airport early Monday morning and had a layover in Denver, Colorado. We arrived at LAX mid afternoon, rented a Toyota Matrix, and then drove over an hour and headed to the church to pick up our packets.

We then went to the home of Daniel and Emily Thompson. We stayed with them for the duration of the conference. Emily (Stuewe) Thompson is a 2003 FBS graduate. We had a wonderful time of fellowship with them and appreciated their hospitality. God has blessed them with a beautiful place.

Monday night was our first service, and Dr. Chappell preached and did a great job. Tuesday morning was Dr. R. B. Ouelette. The evening service was with Dr. Bobby Roberson preaching. Dr. Sam Davidson preached on Wednesday morning. Dr. Gibbs was scheduled to preach on the last night (Wednesday), but he was trying to recover from having pneumonia. Dr. Don Sisk preached to close out the conference. He preached from John 3:30 which states how we as Christians should decrease and how God should increase in our lives.

It was a real blessing to see some previous students who are serving the Lord with the lives. Here are those young people:

  • Emily (Stuewe) Thompson – She and her husband, Daniel, are faithfully serving the Lord at Lancaster Baptist Church.
  • Jenny (Duwe) – She and her husband, Kevin, are also serving the Lord faithfully at Lancaster Baptist Church also. It was a blessing to see them and also meet Kevin’s brother and wife.
  • Jonathan Telles – It was great to see Jonathan and also meet his wife. Jonathan serves as the Youth Pastor at Coastline Baptist Church.
  • Rob Maddox – In between sessions I caught up with Rob who had attended FBS some time ago. He works with the youth in a church in Baltimore, Maryland serving the Lord. It blessed my heart to see these young people still faithful to the Lord.

It was also a blessing to meet Bro. Schettler, Pastor Schmidt, Pastor Larry Chappell, and his dad, Dr. Paul Chappell. It was also a blessing to see Evangelist Chris Stansell, who will be with us this fall for our revival meetings.

I thank Pastor Clear for his leading in allowing me to attend the Spiritual Leadership Conference hosted by Lancaster Baptist Church. The conference was personally enriching for myself as an individual, and I know it will be a help to me personally as I continue to minister at First Baptist Church and First Baptist School. Everything about the conference was first class! The preaching was right on! I will not soon forget at all the impact this conference has made on my life. Thank you to the people of Lancaster Baptist Church and West Coast Baptist College. I am grateful also to Brother Dan and Emily for hosting us for several days. Their hospitality and love for the Lord is both evident and tremendous.

At www.ministry127.com, Lancaster Baptist Church has made available for everyone free of charge all of the downloads to every session during the conference. They have encouraged us to pass along the information. I would encourage you to have a look, and if something interests you, feel free to download it. There were dozens of sessions taught by godly people. The conference booklet is also available for download. Click here for the web page where all of these downloadable links are available.
