The varsity team began the MACS Tournament as the 5 seed after only losing two games in conference play.

The first game in the tournament was on Thursday against the 4 seed, Lake Region, who was one of the conference teams that beat the Crusaders early in the season. The Crusaders were down at halftime, but they took care of business in the second half, winning 43-39. Dexter had 19 points, Isiah had 8 points, and Nathan and Nick K. had 7 points each.

This win put the Crusaders into the semifinals on Friday against the 1 seed Heritage Christian from Karlstad. The Crusaders led most of the game and won 50-39 to head back to the state championship for the second year in a row. Nick had 20 points, and Isiah and Dexter both has 12 points. Hayden scored 6 points.

The championship game on Saturday found the Crusaders against the 2 seed. Chisago, who had just beaten the Crusaders 11 days earlier in their other conference loss. The Crusaders wanted revenge. The first half was a war, which saw the Crusaders down 2 at halftime, but as the second half wore on, the Crusaders deep bench and tournament experience proved to be too much for the Patriots as the Crusaders went on to win 45-39. Dexter scored 15 points, Nick K. scored 10 points, and Isiah had 6 points.

The Crusaders won their second MACS Championship in a row. They finished the season 14-8.

Here are the following individual MACS awards handed out at the tournament:

  • Dexter Wilson, a senior, was awarded the MVP of the tournament.
  • Sean Mansheim, a senior, was awarded the All-Tournament team selection.

The championship trophy was presented in church on Sunday evening, February 28, 2010. Congratulations to our men’s varsity team for back to back state championships!

Yeah! Maybe we will win next year to.

  2. Well, anything is possible. That’s for sure! I already can’t wait until next year’s basketball season. But, I suppose, we shouldn’t rush it, should we? Let’s enjoy the spring, and then next fall, maybe you could help win us a MACS Soccer Championship. You know a thing or two about that now, don’t you?
