Youth Group Conducts Youth Service Night at Island City Baptist Church

The youth group from First Baptist Church was privileged to attend the Sunday evening service at Island City Baptist Church on October 25, 2009. Many teenagers had not had the opportunity prior to see Pastor Rupe and his family at their church. There were forty-seven on the bus, and it left at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, and we pulled into the parking lot at about 4:35 p.m. under a cool, nice day. The two-hour trip was incredibly beautiful as we went through Red Wing and took Highway 61 South. We witnessed two trains, the beautifully-colored landscape in the fall, and the wonderful lakes that run alongside the highway.

Pastor Rupe and Mrs. Rupe greeted us, and then Pastor Rupe directed us to a scenic overlook of Winona. After taking in the view, we passed out many fliers in a neighboring area by the church. We were able to get back to the church around 5:45 p.m. as the service started at 6 p.m.

Jaclyn, Ashley, and Christy sang the first special while Hayden led the congregational singing for his dad. Kelsey sang a solo for the second special while our youth choir sang, “Jesus Paid It All.” Leah played the offertory. David and Isiah did a great job preaching.

The people of Island City were gracious and had prepared a sloppy joe meal for everyone after the service. We left shortly after 8 p.m., then had to fill up the bus with diesel, and eventually pulled into Rosemount around 10:25 p.m.

We praise the Lord for safety and good weather. And we praise the Lord for a place like Island City Baptist Church. The people were warm and friendly, and it was our blessing and privilege to conduct a Youth Service Night there. We are praying in the weeks and months ahead that the Lord will use Pastor Rupe and the people at Island City Baptist Church to see souls saved and lives changed for His glory.
